Charles Russo is an award-winning journalist based in San Francisco. He is a writer and photographer whose work has appeared with the likes of Rolling Stone, VICE, and San Francisco Magazine.
He is a former editor with the White House Photo Office and has worked as a staff photographer for the Half Moon Bay Review & the SF Bay Guardian. As a freelance writer, Charles has won three first place news writing awards with the Bay Area’s Peninsula Press Club.
In July of 2016, he released his first book – "Striking Distance: Bruce Lee and the Dawn of Martial Arts in America" – which chronicles the formative days of a young Bruce Lee amid the heated atmosphere of the trailblazing martial arts scene on San Francisco Bay.
Charles is currently the editor for The Six Fifty, an online magazine that covers life and culture around Silicon Valley.
He is represented by Levine-Greenberg-Rostan Literary Agency. Current clients include Google, Stanford University, and VICE Media.
